Wooo Hoooo! Spring has sprung, finally!

I don't know if its just me, but this has been the longest winter ever. I'm literally counting down the days until spring break so I can be sure to have some sunshine in sunny ARUBA!  It won't be long until we have sunshine and warm weather on the east coast and today I am sharing with you my favorite Spring 2014 "trends"... I put trends in quotes because I'm a true believer that you should wear what you want and what makes you feel your best.  I love the "biker girl" look...it isn't alway on trend but I always put a little edge in my wardrobe.  Its my thing, and you too should have a thing...
My top favorite spring trend is the wide leg pant.  Again, something that is on trend this season but a staple in my closet... my most favorite jeans are called "love story" by J brand... they are a wide leg jean and a perfect addition to your closet.  I just got them in white as well... Right now Bloomingdales is running 25% off if you buy 2 pairs of jeans (just sayin') One thing I don't hesitate to spend money on is jeans.  I bought these years ago, machine wash, and hang dry and they are still in great shape.  They are that jean that can dress up a simple top, heels and a cute accessory.  I highly recommend for the wide leg "trend" pick these up...you won't regret it. And remember, you never have to pay full price... email me, I will find you a deal!
My next favorite is the jumpsuit... in my mind I am 5'10 but in reality I'm 5'2.  I love all things made for models but I am the furthest thing from one and guess what? I still wear them! I love jumpsuits, again these come in and out of "trend".  I wore one for my engagement picture almost 10 years ago and its still in my closet.  I say that like I'm such a sensible shopper, but actually I'm a cross between a hoarder and a hopeless romantic.  Can't part with the outfit that I was wearing when my honey dipped me in the middle of center city Philadelpha!
here it is ....all together...awwwwwww :)

Ok back to jumpsuits, I've bought 2 this season, both black (of course) ...I like to pair them with bold colorful jewelry or shoes and bag so I keep most of my clothing a bit more simple... My favorite one is by young fabulous and broke... this is one of my go to brands that is soooo comfy! I am yet to have his hemmed and its made for a 6'2 model I think! HA!
and my last favorite spring trend is a makeup trend... again, a go to for me but huge on the runway for spring... the dewy skin.  I need to write a whole other post about what products I love to get that Kardashian Glow... which is formerly known as the J-Lo Glow!!  J LO gets full credit in my book, but we've talked about it.  I will leave you with one product that I can't live with out!
MAC mineralize skin finish in soft and gentle...hands down my favorite way to get the glow!!

grab it here, you won't regret it! :)

Happy spring...

Trust me on this one!!

Have you ever walked into a boutique or an unfamiliar store and saw a basic silk blouse and instantly fell in love until you nonchalantly peak at the price and see its upwards of $250!  For some reason, silk is a small fortune... I've fallen in love with a couple brands over the years, Equipment, Parker and Joie to name drop a few but I'll tell you what, I'm protesting the $200 silk blouse starting TODAY!   Why, you ask?!! Well, yesterday I took my 7 year old to the American Girl fashion show (locally, not in NYC) and had a specific look in mind... I wanted to wear a solid silk blouse half tucked into a skinny jean with high boots and a statement necks from Stella and Dot! Sounds easy, right?!!  Not so much... first I picked up a beautiful blue Joie blouse I bought from a local boutique last year for my Christmas pictures.  I only dry clean it and have probably worn it 4 times.  I put it on and there are at least 5 pulls and 3 or 4 little stains. I don't even know what to do with it, do I throw out a shirt that cost that much money? That makes me feel awful! Next I pick up a navy blue Parker number...SAME STORY!! I was beyond annoyed... My number 3 choice was another Joie in black... I see the seam is ripping... seriously?
was this too much to ask for??!!!!

At that point I hit up old faithful... an ivory "portofino" blouse from Express... I have about 5 of these and priced at under $50 and made of silks step sister polyester, it has that feel and look but can be thrown in the washer and tossed if stained or pulled... Did I mention this blouse comes in 4000 colors and patterns?!!  I worked for Express for over a decade and it always drove me crazy how they brought out every color under the sun in the same shirt but in this case, I am thankful... I can pair this with ripped jeans, boots, silver spiky jewels and a leather jacket for a trendy biker chic look, tucked into a pencil skirt for the office, tucked into jeans with a jacket for that "safe" work week look or how I wore my ivory one yesterday with dark blue AG skinnies, my black boots and a blue and purple stone stella and dot statement piece... easy and comfy and I didn't have to worry about ruining it!!!! If you don't own one of these shirts, get on it!! I really do love them and am so happy I had it to throw on.  I put a cami under it yesterday but thats not necessary with all the colors. Click the link here...

With spring only days away, its time to spruce up the spring wardrobe...grab a Portofino or two and pair it with some amazing new Stella & Dot jewels.. I am loving the Aviva chandeliers and the sardinia bracelet in blue!!!

Oscar fever!!!

Yesterday was the perfect day to be sick on the couch! I watched every last second of red carpet leading up to the big show and made it through almost the whole show!  If we're being honest, the only nominated movie I saw was Frozen (2x)...I'm a mommy the only movies I see are with my kids.  When I go out with my husband we like to talk, we never go to the movies, literally the last one we saw was probably 10 years ago.

I'm pretty sure every one who knows anything about movies or fashion was waiting to see what newcomer Lupita Nyong'o was wearing (do I need to even put her last name?!) I myself have fallen in love with Lupita over the course of this awards season... She glammed in gucci, looked lovely in Lauren but I think the Prada number she wore last night stole my heart... it was so her (it was made for her which didn't hurt!) and her heartfelt HONEST, kind appreciative words in her speech secured her spot as a household name for years!!!!  She is such a talent.. and now has the "Oscar award winning" in front of her name!!! If you live under a rock and haven't seen her dress last night here ya go...

Ok now that I got that out of the way, something has been majorly bothering me... I was a huge facebooker forever, stopped cold turkey about 6 months ago (only have business page now). I find myself with so much  more time on my hands and a new love of Instagram.  Seems much less "dramatic" for lack of a better word!  I will confess I follow some interesting people on Instagram.  Three of which are the Kardashians.  I don't faithfully watch the show, unless I'm sick on my couch like yesterday!  I feel like I got my fix for a while prior to the awards!  My point?  On Instagram they have MILLIONS of followers... its insane. I follow people I'm interested in seeing/reading about... doesn't that make sense? Isn't that what people do??? Apparently not... I was reading some of the comments that people write on their pictures and I was mortified... I get it "they ask for it" putting themselves in the public eye.  I see that side of it, but does that make it ok to insult someone publicly? Someones daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, wife?  I've had 41 solid years on this earth and have been on both the receiving and giving end of it and have learned my lesson.  A button clicked when I became a mother and I try to put my best foot forward daily... I'm human and of course there are people that I struggle with in life but to publicly call them fat, or ugly? (and those are some of the nicer things I read)
Its just not nice and where I come from, If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all....
Be nice.... life is short.  Come back and see me soon! xo
