bronzed and beautiful

I'm loving that Sephora sends catalogs... in this recent one I just received a couple of days ago, I found some amazing bronzer kits... I myself am a life long bronzer junkie BUT these kits are reasonably priced at $40 and let you try several different products in convenient sample sizes before spending that for just 1 full size product! I just placed my order, and will be sure to let you know what I think!!

Laying in the sun is so dangerous and frankly it is out of style... bronzers, spray tans, self tanners, etc are all the rage!! The reason 40 is the new 20 is because we don't lather our bodies in baby oil and fry in the sun anymore! Thank goodness...that was hard work!! Its much easier to brush on a tan.. spf is the hottest trend going! ps...one of the kits I ordered is all products loaded with spf... stay tuned! Have a wonderful day... make it count!

a lesson to be learned.

I've been such a slacker lately!! Our trip to Disney is behind us... I survived 5 days in disney... I can't believe I didn't put on 1 pair of heels... I risked losing a pair of Louboutin wedges and my go to Jimmy Choos by bringing them in my checked luggage. I literally lived in flip flops! I thought I'd at least wear a pair of wedges and a sundress for dinner... NOPE... shorts, t's, flip flops every single day and night... I was a new person. I was introduced to casual. Those who know me know I have 2 ways of dressing. My pjs which consist of old abercrombie sweats and mismatched pants OR high heels...theres no middle ground. Disney World taught me how to dress casual! I love it.
Disney was the best place on the planet to people watch. I was in heaven... Its not nice, I know, but I'm honest. I was open to letting my daughter wear what she wanted out of what I decided to pack. I brought "casual" dresses for day and fun tutu dresses for dinner and character dining. It took 4 days of seeing 1 million little girls with make up and princess costumes for her to finally say, "mommy, why is everyone dressed like a princess?" I was prepared... I was ready, I had to have the perfect answer... "Honey, Mommy is very sorry but I forgot your princess outfit, but your dresses are beautiful, are you upset you are not dressed like a princess?"
She replied, "NOPE"... I LOVE THIS CHILD! I suppose the next time we go she will have more of an opinion but for now I remain the boss! Thank goodness!!!

I'm so HAPPY!! :-)

I have a few days of the year that are super special to me....obvious days such as birthdays, anniversary and religious holidays of course, but award shows (the red carpets of course) are like holidays to me as well. I live for those days!! Others include season finales to my favorite shows, but today is more important than all of them!! TODAY I received my new INSTLYE for May... its has 150 best beauty buys.... I LOVE this issue and wait for it every season... I have started using so many products because of this magazine that I consider one of my most important tools!!!
I had to blog about it before i open the pages but promise the cliff notes version for you in the next couple of days. I'm that girl that will share my secrets. I love to share my shopping secrets (hence the reason for this blog!!)... I love my girlfriends to ask for advice...its the best compliment a girl can get. OK... I don't want this Blog to be about negativity...that is all too much in this day and age, so I am asking for BUY today...
here's the deal.. remember when I told you about the camo jacket from JCREW?? Since looking at that jacket I've visited 2 different Jcrew locations 3 different times.
the first time was for the camo jacket... no one greeted me, or even spoke to me.
the second time I was pushing a stroller, so you couldn't miss me, my 15 month old cannot be missed!!! ...totally ignored....
the third time I was again alone- back at the first location...carrying 3 shopping bags (jcrew to do exchange, nordstrom and I think lord and taylor)... again NO ONE even said Hello.... WHAT????
I will admit, I'm not the preppy type but still... do not prejudge... retailers in general these days suck! Are they cutting payroll so much because of the economy that they are so grossly understaffed that no one can say hi because they are sooooo busy and overworked?? No, they prejudged.... BIG MISTAKE jcrew...because I walked right down to ANTHROPOLOGIE got myself a personal shopper and went to town....so suck it jcrew I don't need you!!!!

on a lighter note... Anthro may just be the cutest store on the planet...if you haven't - check it out!!!

i don't even like skinny boys!

For some reason, ever since I can remember, I always want some piece of clothing or accessory that is impossible to find. I usually end up finding it after it is the hot item and put it away and make it work when its not so "in"... I remember specifically years ago looking for a white wedge shoe with a cork bottom... I means like 10 years ago, now everyone from Nine West to Christian Louboutin makes a white wedge...its pretty annoying... but it always surfaces... I never like it when everyone else does....
My latest obsession is a slouchy, boyfriend, cropped, ripped up jean. Doesn't sound too difficult to find does it?? For me "boyfriend" would mean a little big. If i put on my husbands jeans, they would fall off of me, I've for sure never had a bf skinnier than me... I don't like skinny guys!! Sooo if its called a bf jean, it should be too big. Every single bf jean I've tried has been a "skinny, slouchy" jean WHAT??? That makes zero sense to me... So I continue my search... I'm hitting abercrombie tomorrow... keep your eyes open... I would love some advice on this!!!

green scarf

Did anyone watch the bachelor special a couple weeks ago that showed all of the bachelor "secrets" from over the years??? Deanna Pappas was wearing a green scarf and I am obsessed!!!! if anyone sees a dark green (kelly) scarf... please give me a heads up..literally haven't stopped thinking about it in 2 weeks!!!!

I've got a crush on CAMO

camouflage to me is like animal print... it can always work in a wardrobe whether its trendy or not. Personally I LOVE leopard...its in my house, on my kids, on my feet, my handbags...obsessed...BUT right now its everywhere on everyone else too and I'm not really digging looking like everyone else! Where am I going with this you ask????
Ahhhh CAMO....Camo is adorable and this season I am putting it with HOT PINK... My oldest had camo pants as an infant and to keep her "girly" I paired them with a hot pink polo... the light bulb hit me the other day when I was looking through old pics...
I have a follower that HATES ugg boots but I LOVE LOVE LOVE them.... so here's 2 options...one for the ugg lovers.... camo mini, white t shirt and hot pink uggs...
for the ugg haters (courtney :-) camo mini, hot pink tee shirt and black flip flops!
I'm wearing it as soon as I can and I may even post a pic... yes I'm 37 and this is a young look...oh well!!! I'm doing it and I dare you to also!!!

ps...if your anything like me...you get a catalog...fall in love and never stop thinking about the item until you own it... I've recently been smitten over a camo jacket from JCREW... I'm more rocker than preppy BUT I thought...I will get this and make it my own... Finally got there today.... UGHHHHH thank goodness I didn't order it online... NOT CUTE...just an fyi...boxy, not good fabric and certainly not coming home with me :-)...ps it was $128...really?? something tells me Gap will have something similar for half the price...I'll keep you posted.

old navy must have!!

these days "recessionistas" are more trendy then ever!! I have to tell you, over the years I've splurged for both girls and myself and lately I'm realizing "less is more"

so I went into old navy last night... here's what you must have! The kids dresses are $10... there is a beautiful tiered dress in white... perfect for portraits... a must have. You have a boy too?? Then get him a polo and khakis...perfect!

for us...they had great cardigans for $10...I got a turquoise one... my thought over white this summer...such a huge trendy color and I'll want a few things in it so for 10 bucks i couldn't resist... I also picked up a tunic dress looking thing... thought of pairing with leggings...it was $20...super cute and comfy...check it out!!!

Disney couture!

soooo i am going to Disney with my hubby and 3 year old and I am on a mission to figure out what to wear... sounds ridiculous when I read this back, but really, just because I am a mom, and I've called Disney every morning for the last month to score dinner with Cinderella doesn't mean I can't be fashionable...after all I will be having meals with royalty!
So I'm on the search for the perfect outfits... 5 perfect outfits...
juicy sweats for the plane, jeans at night but those days at the park... TO BE CONTINUED!

yesterdays over again! oops!!

So yesterday I posted this fantastic piece about "jeggings" and I accidentally deleted it! I was so annoyed I just decided to wait til today to rewrite it!
So jeggings as you all may know are jeans and leggings combined... the "brangelina" of clothing!! lol... I am personally IN LOVE with them BUT... BIG BUT as I've said before I'm not a fan of paying a lot for trends which I'd bet my life that Jeggings are a big trendy! Soooo yesterday I went on my search for the affordable Jegging!
Here goes: I started my search at Express... on the front table "leggings buy 1 get 1 half off" so my thought was a pair of denim and a pair of black...perfect! I tried them on NOT SO PERFECT... on me anyway... i am very short they were very long... and they were denim leggings- not to be confused with "jeggings" the difference you ask???
the Jegging has a button and zipper or at least a faux fly area...while the denim legging is a legging made of denim with an elastic waist band
I next went to Neiman Marcus... i know quite a leap but I am boycotting gap right now and Nordstrom is hard for me to navigate so i went to Neimans... I have a fantastic pair of 7 for all mankind Jeggings but was searching for a pair under $100 in a lighter wash... I ended up with a fantastic pair of Joes for $98...score!! Super cute, affordable and deliciously trendy!!! this is a trend you shouldn't miss... I would go with the Jegging because you can wear a regular shirt with them....the denim leggings are booooty tight...I need to cover mine with these ...but tops are so cute right now its easy!!! I think tomorrow I'll talk about trapeze tops to go with the leggings...but for now I'm rambling!! I love clothes... I think I have a problem!!!! Happy weekend!!

The hue you must do is blue!!!!

Everything from dresses to shoes to jewelry to handbags is showing up BLUE for spring 2010....I love this trend because its been in and out for the last couple springs so you probably can pull pieces right from your closet.... do splurge for something blue with ruffles though... ruffles are so hot and super cute!!! Also a blue statement necklace is a must... i bought one last year and literally wore it to death!!

The beauty of "trendy" is that is always comes back...One of my favorite things to do at the end of the season is hit sale racks...i mean deep deep sales. I buy a few things that "work" and keep them in my closet...if you buy good things (brand names) you will always get wear out of them.... I got a great pair of cropped skinny jeans 2 years ago before skinny was all the rage... literally wear them to death now out with boots, or during the day with uggs... I LOVE A DEAL and if your not getting them I will teach you how!! ANYONE CAN PAY FULL PRICE... its really no fun!

you snooze you lose!

Ok people listen when I tell you the spring colored jewelry at Target is HOTTTT!!! I found a necklace I really wanted... $40 seemed a lot for me at Target and I waited, and you guessed it... SOLD OUT! UGHHHH!!
My point you ask??? I consider myself to be a bit of a brand snob and as I get older I'm learning... Throw on a rockin pair of jeans, and a cute basic T and a statement necklace (which I can't do because Target sold out of it!) and your set!! I'm learning... wear 1 or 2 brand name things and you can throw in a fun inexpensive accessory and your set. I have one major rule and if I had ANY followers on this thing I'd worry about saying it... I don't buy fake... not a fan... no fake bags, jeans, etc... I feel like the minute I carry a fake bag, my engagement ring might at well be a CZ...just sayin'! This is my fix of the day.... have a good night!!!

todays fashion fix...

so my obsession today is a sun dress with a slouchy boot...super cute trend for spring. Throw a jean jacket over it and its such a cute look!! My thought is you may have to be tall to pull it off ...I'm gonna hit up Anthropologie to try the look on and I'll let you know how my experiment goes!! Maybe I'll even sneak a pic in the fitting room!

Well here goes... I've been going back and forth about doing this for the longest time, so here goes!! Give me your feedback... But don't be a hater... pinky promise!

This will be a blog like no other... I'm a little crazy but full of useless information that I have to share!! I'm that girl that watches Regis and Kelly and names the brands of Kelly's clothes down to her shoes... I'm a freak! I love fashion! LOVE IT!!
